School activities during the “Blue Ribbon Celebration Day” will include a service activity with students’ favorite cereals.  Each school family has been asked to bring two of their favorite boxes of cereal to school.  One box will be donated to a local food pantry while the other box will be part of the “Blue Ribbon Cereal Bar,” in which students will be able to enjoy their favorite cereals together.  After breakfast, the students will sort and pack all of the cereal boxes for distribution to local food pantries.  In addition, in the afternoon, students, faculty and staff will be treated to a circus themed assembly.

Saint Norbert, Our Mother of Consolation Parish School (OMC) in the Chestnut Hill section of Northwest Philadelphia, and Saint Agnes School in West Chester (Chester County) were selected as part of the 2015 cohort of National Blue Ribbon Schools in an announcement made by United States Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan, on Tuesday, September 29, 2015.  OMC, St. Agnes and St. Norbert were three of only 335 total schools and 50 private schools chosen nationally and three out of four Catholic schools in Pennsylvania selected this year.  Each of the schools was chosen for “overall academic excellence.”
