How do we succeed?
Agonized parents and others often ask The Cardinal Newman Society: What will finally bring about a renewal of Catholic education?
For one thing, we believe that God calls us to work for it — to make teaching the Faith a real priority in the Church. And so we've worked hard for more than 21 years… and there is so still so much to do. That's why we depend greatly on your financial support in this Advent Season.
But more importantly — and we mean this sincerely, it's most important! — we rely on prayer. Prayer for discernment. Prayer for conversion. Prayer for protection.
Will you please join us in prayer on today's Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas, for fidelity and truth in Catholic education?
We need Our Lady's intercession! Just this week, we reported:
• A 25-year-old law protecting Catholic schools and colleges in our nation's capital was repealed by the D.C. Council, so that government can force our institutions to sponsor activities and benefits that would violate their Catholic mission. Will Congress reverse this blatant attack on religion?
• Georgetown University's president is the highest paid among Catholic colleges — and 15th-highest among all U.S. colleges — even though scandals continue under his watch. These include platforms for pro-abortion speakers, University-sponsored gay and lesbian activism, and a recent "feminist" event featuring prostitutes and porn workers in a documentary.
• Marquette University told employees that opposing same-sex marriage could be "harassment," and Creighton University's president wrongly cited Jesus in defense of his employee benefits for same-sex couples.
Our Lady asked Saint Juan Diego, "Am I not here, I, who am your Mother? Are you not under my shadow and protection?"
"Do you need anything more?"
Your partnership in our work to shed a light on the scandal and call Catholic schools and colleges to fidelity is so badly needed…
…and most especially, we need your prayers!
Please join us today in praying to God for fidelity and truth in Catholic education, and beg the powerful intercession of Our Lady. We feel her love so greatly in all that we do.
