In response to the anti-Keystone XL pipeline protest in Philadelphia this afternoon, the Corbett-Cawley campaign is calling on millionaire Secretary Tom Wolf to join Governor Corbett in announcing his support for the Keystone XL Pipeline. According to Philly.com, the purpose of the rally was to urge Democratic Senator Robert Casey to vote against an upcoming bill on the Keystone XL pipeline.
“Secretary Tom Wolf needs to encourage Senator Casey to support the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline,” stated Corbett-Cawley campaign manager Mike Barley. “We already know that Secretary Wolf is funding his Democratic primary with over $1 million in money he pocketed from his ownership in a pro-Keystone company, so it only makes sense that he supports the Keystone XL pipeline when it matters most, and not just when it benefits him.”
Barley noted that Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz voted against the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline, which would directly create 20,000 jobs and move up to 830,000 barrels of crude oil from Canada to the oil refineries on the Gulf Coast.
“Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz is so liberal in her views that she voted against this job-creating project that would help break our dependency on middle-east oil and safely transport nearly 1 million barrels of oil from Canada to our Gulf Coast refineries on a daily basis,” added Barley. “It is a shame when a Congresswoman is willing to placate the environmentalists at the expense of jobs and becoming oil and energy independent.”
According to Wolf’s financial disclosures, he is a partial owner of North Lime Holdings Corporation, the parent company of Irex Corporation, of which he also serves on the Board of Directors. In 2013, the company publicly announced their support of the Keystone XL pipeline. According to thePhiladelphia Inquirer, Wolf sold off more than $1 million of his stake in the pro-Keystone company to fund his Democratic primary campaign.
