Naked Bike Ride Philly Set For Saturday, 8/25

You're looking at some photos from recent Philly Naked Bike Rides (PNBR). This event is held every year near the end of August and this year's ride will take place on Saturday, August 25. The ride usually begins in Fairmount Park at around 4 o'clock in the afternoon and then weaves its way along the river and through the Art Museum area, into center city and around Rittenhouse Square and then across town and out to the Piazza at Schmidt's in Northern Liberties where it winds up.

PNBR has many pre-event happenings planned and they are in search of volunteers. Here's more news from PNBR for those who might want to participate:

There are going to be a TON of activities going on at the pre-ride, including: Body painting,  bicycle tune-ups and repairs from Neighborhood Bike Works (NBW is a non-profit so we'll be asking for donations this year for those services) live music from The George Urgo Band and Music Box Dynamo, Urban Riding Safety info sessions from the Bicycle Coalition of Philadlephia, free beverages from RedBull and Vitamin Water, and of course: Official PNBR Bike Light Sales for only $5 a pop!

Body Paint: We're working our hardest to provide you with some paint (hence the fundraisers and yes, we've tried calling every art store in the universe) but please plan to bring some for yourself and to share. We'll provide a privacy tent so you can get ready in comfort. Tips: Acrylics work best in our experience, bring large quantities of 1 or 2 colors so that you can swap with people for other colors, you can make your own with these ingredients: 1 tsp. corn starch 1/2 tsp. milk 1/4 tsp. water Food coloring .

We'll be having our PNBR 2012 Volunteer's Gathering this Sunday, August 12 at 7pm in West Philly at 4707 Hazel Ave. 19143. Bring your enthusiasm and a snack to share.  Bike lights will be sold and distributed for for sale at the meeting!

PNBR is looking for:

Someone to help us make bicycle safety flags. They are a crucial part of the ride but are mad expensive. If you think you can handle the challenge, please contact info@phillynakedbikeride.org .

Flier distributors and chalk sign makers. Karenina has some rad supplies for making chalk signs on sidewalks and in bike lanes, we just need someone to help her with making them! If you can do this send an email to info@phillynakedbikeride.org and plan to come to the volunteers' gathering.

Medical Team members: We like to make sure our riders our safe, can you help us do that? If so, send a brief email to info@phillynakedbikeride.org and plan to come to the volunteers' gathering.

Traffic bankers and corallers: If you have experience controlling car traffic while you're on a bike you will be our hero. To help out with Street Team send an email to info@phillynakedbikeride.org and plan to come to the volunteers' gathering.

Business owners interested in placing an ad with Chariots of Philly, who, for every business that places an ad with them for the day of the ride, will provide us with a free chariot for people who want to participate but can't ride a bike.  If you are a business owner or manager who would like to participate, please send an email to info@phillynakedbikeride.org.

Any help we can get. Let us know- there's only a few of us and we appreciate every ounce of effort dedicated to making this the incredible experience that it is.

We can't wait to meet you all!

Love and Perfect Biking Weather,
Philly Naked Bike Ride
