NJ Jobs Outreach: Guadagno Tours Pennsauken Firm

Whew! . . . Keeping up with New Jersey's Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno is always a challenge as she moves throughout the state in her effort to attract and keep jobs for New Jersey. Today she was back in South Jersey once again to tour the Cetylite Industries facility in Pennsauken.

Continuing her month-long tour of New Jersey’s life science companies, Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno today visited Cetylite Industries in Pennsauken, which manufactures medical, dental, and veterinary products that are sold all over the world.
“Cetylite has made Pennsauken its home for the last 35 years as an important partner in our state’s thriving life sciences industry – growing our economy and providing quality, good-paying jobs for our residents,” said Lt. Governor Guadagno. “Like many of New Jersey’s life science companies, its products are significant in the world marketplace and play a valuable role in the health of the state’s economy. As a company with a global reach, Cetylite could have located its operations anywhere, but chose to be in New Jersey with countless other life sciences companies.”

Cetylite has specialized in manufacturing liquids, gels and ointments for over fifty years, featuring prescription topical anesthetics and infection prevention products for medical, dental and veterinary use. The company’s 28,000 square foot facility houses manufacturing and warehousing capabilities for its own products and for other private label companies.

In August 2011, the firm’s $29,000 investment to train its staff was matched with a state-issued $24,000 customized training grant to educate about 27 employees in supervision, lean manufacturing, SWOT analysis and internal communications.

“Providing resources to help companies grow and succeed is a solid investment in the state’s economic future,” continued Lt. Governor Guadagno. “The Christie Administration has assisted 30 companies in the life sciences industry with expansion or retention projects, leading to the creation of nearly 3,700 new jobs and supporting more than 4,800 existing jobs in the state. In total, these projects will inject an estimated $507.2 million of private investment in New Jersey’s economy.”

The Lt. Governor’s visit to Cetylite comes a day after her return from this year’s BIO International conference in Boston, where she met with and encouraged life sciences companies to locate in New Jersey and hire New Jerseyans.

The New Jersey Partnership for Action (PFA) is a three-pronged public-private approach to economic development and the starting point for all initiatives, policies, and efforts to grow New Jersey’s economy and create quality, sustainable jobs in our communities. Led by Lt. Governor Guadagno, the PFA supports the vital role business plays in advancing the state’s economy and creating jobs. The three elements of the PFA include the Business Action Center reporting directly to the Lt. Governor and providing the business community with a single point of contact, applying a proactive, customer-service approach to businesses’ interactions with State government; the New Jersey Economic Development Authority, serving as the state’s “bank for business”; and Choose New Jersey, an independently funded and operated 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation created to encourage and nurture economic growth throughout New Jersey.

Businesses considering a move or in need of assistance are encouraged to call New Jersey’s Business Action Center at (866) 534-7789 or visit the State’s Business Portal at www.newjerseybusiness.gov.
