Christie Signs Six Bills, Conditionally Vetoes One

Today, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie took action on the following legislation:

BILLS SIGNED:

S-375/A-1838 (Beach, Vitale/Conaway, Munoz, Benson, Singleton) – Establishes standards of practice for providers of clinical nursing services for medically fragile students          

S-852/A-832 (Vitale, Gordon/Cryan, O’Donnell, Quijano, Munoz, Coughlin, Handlin) – Provides immunity from civil liability to certain individuals who acquire or use an automated external defibrillator

             S-873/A-1180 (Cunningham/Lampitt, Benson, Singleton) – Concerns basic skills training provided by the New Jersey Community College Consortium for Workforce and Economic Development

             S-874/A-1176 (Cunningham, T. Kean/Lampitt, Diegnan, Wilson, Benson) – Revises the NJ STARS and NJ STARS II Programs

S-1025/A-1531 (Whelan/Burzichelli, Wagner, Ramos) – Allows casino to pay up to 6% or 9% of parimutuel pool to out-of-State racetrack for simulcast races; provides casino retains 55% of certain   remaining takeout rate amounts

S-1027/A-2271 (Lesniak, Sweeney/Lampitt, Coutinho, Singleton, Conaway, Moriarty) – Extends for 18 months application submission deadline to EDA for review and approval of certain construction projects involving public institutions of higher education


BILL VETOED:

S-1328/A-2310 (Codey/Jasey, McKeon, Caputo) – CONDITIONAL - Permits Type II district with board of school estimate to opt to move school election to November; eliminates board of school estimate’s approval of budgets for such districts, except for proposals to spend above cap
