Remembering Justice Frank J. Montemuro

The Honorable Frank J. Monetmuro, one of Pennsylvania's most prominent jurists has passed on.
Justice Monetmuro was renowned for his extraordinary personal integrity and his devotion to his family, his community and the law.
Philadelphia Bar Association Chancellor John E. Savoth issued the following statement on the passing of Justice Frank J. Montemuro Jr.:

"Justice Montemuro was a hard-working jurist who was well-respected by lawyers for his integrity, compassion, courtesy and devotion to the law," Savoth said.
"He was an ardent supporter of greater uniformity in Pennsylvania's court system to improve the quality of justice in the state. He was also a life-long leader in the Italian-American community, who exemplified the highest ideals of personal character and sound judgment.
"The Philadelphia Bar Association proudly presented its Wachovia Fidelity Award to Justice Montemuro in 2004 for his significant accomplishments in improving the administration of justice. On behalf of the entire legal community, we extend our condolences to Justice Montemuro?s family at this difficult time."
Frank J. Monetmuro, Jr. died peacefully surrounded by his family on March 29. 
He was the beloved husband of Margaret "Peggy" (nee Gigliotti) and the loving father of Frank J. III and his wife Paula of Yardley, Michael C. and his wife Pamela of Doylestown and Anthony M.D. and his wife Ariane of Brentwood, TN. He was also the dearest Pop of Nina, Michael, Cara, Gabriel, Tony and Ana and the dear brother of Marie DiJulio, Lorraine Fitzgerald and the late Albert Montemuro.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to either Order Sons of Italy, Justice Frank J. Montemuro, Jr. Lodge #2193 Scholarship Fund or the Alzheimer's Association Del. Valley Chapter 399 Market St. Suite 102, Phila., PA 19106.
We were so proud to have known Justice Monetmuro.
He was a trailblazer and a pilar in the keystone state's legal community as well as within the Italian-American community. He will be dearly missed.
