Philly Council Won't Kill Ourageous 'DROP' Program

A special message from Philadelphia's government watchdog group, The Committee of Seventy:

Next January, there will be at least six new members on Philadelphia City Council – largely because of public outrage over DROP.
But today, by a 15-2 vote, Council voted to make limited changes to DROP, but keep the pension perk in place for city employees. A final vote could happen before Council’s summer break.
The Committee of Seventy urged Council to abolish this “symbol for arrogance and entitlement.” Read our “kill DROP” testimony here.
Jim Kenney cast the only vote to eliminate DROP. Jannie Blackwell also voted “no” because she likes the current program just fine.
