Christie Files Many Nominations, Appointments

Yesterday, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie filed nominations and appointments for various State boards, commissions, and authorities. Among the nominations made were three new members to the North Jersey District Water Supply Commission (NJDWSC), which oversees the largest water supply system in the state, serving over two million North Jersey residents.

Governor Christie’s nominations to the North Jersey District Water Supply Commission include Hackensack attorney Alan S. Ashkinaze, Esq. (Oradell, Bergen); Hampshire Real Estate Companies Executive Vice President Norman A. Feinstein, Esq. (Caldwell, Essex); and Garofalo & O'Neill Managing Partner Robert C. Garofalo, Esq. (Brielle, Monmouth). These nominations filed by the Governor require the advice and consent of the New Jersey State Senate.

In February, as part of an ongoing effort to increase transparency and disclosure in the activities of the North Jersey District Water Supply Commission, the Christie Administration requested information relating to the hiring practices at the NJDWSC, as well as all relevant information concerning compensation awarded to individuals or companies in connection with the activities of NJDWSC.

Following up on the action taken at the NJDWSC, Governor Christie in March introduced “Shadow Government Reform” legislation to protect New Jersey taxpayers by extending or expanding the Governor’s veto authority to prevent waste, abuse and unethical conduct before it occurs. The legislation put forward by Governor Christie will establish or enhance oversight and accountability at twenty-one various entities. The legislation will also ensure public funds are appropriately used and that ethical standards are followed by members of the authorities.

Governor Chris Christie yesterday also filed the following nominations and direct appointments with the State Senate and Secretary of State’s Office. The Governor’s nominations are subject to the advice and consent of the State Senate.

About Dan Cirucci

"Wally" Richter Leadership Award, the highest honor from the National Association of Bar Executives' Communications Section. He has also been honored by numerous other local, state and national groups.

In his hometown of Camden, Cirucci taught fifth grade at the Ulysses Wiggins Elementary School named for the founder of the Camden NAACP. There he was one of the first teachers in the country to teach African-American history to inner city students. He later served as editor of a local weekly newspaper, as Assistant to the Township Manager of Cherry Hill Township and as Associate Director of Communications at the New Jersey State Bar Association.
