Arizona Congresswoman Shot In Head, Others Hit

The Hill is reporting on a horrifying incident in Arizona>
A democrat Congresswoman (Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) has been shot in the head outside of a grocery store and is in critical condition. At least six others are said to have been killed and nine others are said to be injured:
Giffords (who was recently re-elected in a hotly-contested race) was reportedly holding a "Congress On Your Corner" event.
Here's part of the story from The Hill:
According to Arizona Public Media, a gunman ran up and started shooting indiscriminately as Giffords was talking to a couple. The man then fled, but was tackled by a bystander and taken into custody.
Fox News reported that the gunman shouted something as he began shooting. A security guard returned fire, wounding the assailant.
Giffords was transported to University Medical Center in Tucson, according to Arizona Public Media.
“I am horrified by the senseless attack on Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and members of her staff," Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) said in a statement Saturday. "An attack on one who serves is an attack on all who serve. Acts and threats of violence against public officials have no place in our society. Our prayers are with Congresswoman Giffords, her staff, all who were injured, and their families. This is a sad day for our country."

Another fine job by the media in prematurely reporting that she was dead in their rush to be first, and have the marketing claim that goes along with it.

On a more serious note, if Rep. Giffords really was shot in the head at close range, it's a miracle that she survived. Let's keep her and the other victims of this senseless tragedy in our prayers.
