Toomey Receives State FOP Endorsement

Yesterday, Pennsylvania U.S. Senate candidate and former small business owner Pat Toomey received the endorsement of the Pennsylvania Fraternal Order of Police, the largest law enforcement advocacy organization in Pennsylvania.
“I am proud and grateful to receive the endorsement of the Fraternal Order of Police,” Pat Toomey said.  “The FOP represents Pennsylvania’s hard working men and women who put their lives on the line every day to protect our communities and our families.  In a post-9/11 world we rely on our law enforcement officials in new and challenging ways and it is crucial that we support policies that make it easier – not harder – for law enforcement officials to do their jobs.  I am honored by their endorsement today, and I look forward to working with them in the U.S. Senate.”
Following is the letter that Toomey received from Les Neri, President of the Pennsylvania FOP:
Dear Representative Toomey,
On the front line of protecting Pennsylvania’s citizens, the 41,000 members of the Fraternal Order of Police, Pennsylvania State Lodge, have put themselves in harm’s way each and every day.  They have committed themselves to keeping our families and communities safe from threats.  Pennsylvania’s next Senator must understand what it takes to fulfill this solemn duty to protect and serve.
As a United States Congressman, your record speaks for itself on the issues of national security.  You realize that home or abroad, law enforcement needs to have the proper tools to protect our citizens.  We are sure that in your capacity as United States Senator, you would continue to advocate for the law enforcement community.
That is why we are pleased to endorse your campaign for United States Senator.  We are confident that as our Senator from Pennsylvania you will continue your great work in keeping Pennsylvania a safe place to live, learn, work and play.
The Fraternal Order of Police, Pennsylvania State Lodge, looks forward to continuing working alongside you to protect our citizens and officers.
 Sincerely,
 Les Neri
