Will Obama Release Photos?

From Henry J. Pulizzi at the Wall Street Journal:
In a reversal, President Barack Obama is seeking to block the immediate release of hundreds of photos showing U.S. personnel allegedly abusing prisoners in Iraq and Afghanistan. An Obama administration official said that the president told his legal advisers last week that releasing the photos would endanger U.S. troops.
The photos were first ordered released by a federal judge in June 2006, and were expected to be released no later than May 28. The American Civil Liberties Union and other advocacy groups have sought the release of the photos since 2003.
President Obama now finds himself in a tight spot.
He nuzzled up to the ACLU and said he would release the photos.
He curried favor with the extreme left and knows he owes them.
But, he's getting cold feet. He must know (we hope) on some level that releasing the photos would endanger our troops.
But remember this: It was Obama who opened this can of worms in the first place.

I applaud the president on this move.

What good would release of the photos do to anybody? The troops would be punished and our reputation would take a serious hit. These photos would be degrading to the people of the Middle East where most of these prisoners hailed from. It would have been a lose-lose situation.

This is one of the first moves where I support the president 100%.
