Remembering Tony Snow

Tony Snow's high school (Princeton High School) in Ohio will remember him with a memorial and a scholarship fund. Here's the full story:
The late Tony Snow, a 1973 graduate of Princeton High and a one-time White House press secretary, will be remembered with a dedication ceremony for a memorial at Princeton High at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 12. The ceremony will be held outside Matthews Auditorium. Snow was an internationally known commentator, radio and TV news host who also served as head speechwriter for President George H.W. Bush and then spokesman for George W. Bush. He passed away in July 2008 after a three-year battle with colon cancer. He was 53 and remained throughout his life a great friend of Princeton, known for keeping touch with former classmates. The dedication ceremony will unveil a memorial bench designed by Jonas Memorial Arts of West Harrison, Ind., and plantings outside the auditorium. “Tony was a tremendously talented individual who was a great representative of Princeton High School,” said Dirk Allen, a fellow Class of ’73 grad and member of the committee spearheading the memorial effort. Other committee members are Kathy Gillen McNear, her husband Jim McNear, Dennis Hensley, Connie Halbauer Pridemore and Sarah Huber Welch, all ’73 grads. Allen thanked Superintendent Dr. Gary Pack, the Princeton Board of Education and Princeton for their time and effort. Among the highlights of the Tuesday program will be the presenting of the colors by the ROTC chapter at Princeton, songs from the school’s A Cappella choir, a proclamation from Springdale Mayor Doyle Webster, and some thoughts on the legacy of Tony Snow. A committee of former friends and classmates of Tony has also helped to institute a scholarship program in Snow’s name through Princeton High School. Donations may be made out to the Princeton Scholarship Fund, and sent to Dr. Pack, PHS Scholarship chairman, at 25 West Sharon Road, Cincinnati OH 45246.
